Services
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy focuses on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the muscles, joints, bones and surrounding soft tissues. Whether you're experiencing back or neck pain, a troublesome knee, shoulder pain or a persistent injury, I combine hands-on treatment (soft tissue massage/manual therapy), exercise prescription and rehabilitation to reduce pain, restore movement and prepare you to get back to doing the things you enjoy.
Sports Physiotherapy
Sports physiotherapy specialises in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries associated with exercise and sporting activity, from acute injuries to persistent or recurring problems. Whether you're a competitive athlete, regular gym-goer, runner or weekend warrior, I tailor my treatment to your goals to restore strength and performance while reducing the risk of future injury. I deliver treatment and rehabilitation that prepares you to return with confidence to the sport you love.
Dance & Performance Physiotherapy
Dance & Performance physiotherapy applies specialist physiotherapy knowledge to the unique physical demands of performing arts, including extreme ranges of movement, repetitive loading and high performance demands. With extensive experience working with dancers and performers, I will work with you to understand and manage your injury, prevent recurring niggles, understand hypermobility and hypermobility syndrome and restore movement efficiency. I prepare performers to return to stage stronger and more resilient.
Vocal Physiotherapy
Vocal physiotherapy addresses the physical components of voice production, including posture, breathing, and musculoskeletal tension of the neck, jaw, trunk and respiratory system. I work with singers, actors and other professional voice users experiencing tension, discomfort or physical limitations, to support efficient and sustainable vocal performance.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific soft tissue points and can be used alongside physiotherapy to help manage pain, muscle tension and some musculoskeletal conditions. It may be incorporated into your treatment programme where appropriate, alongside exercise, rehabilitation and other physiotherapy techniques to support your recovery.
Women’s Health
Women’s health physiotherapy focuses on the physical changes and conditions affecting women throughout their lives, including pregnancy, the postnatal period, pelvic health and the menopause. I am passionate about supporting women to thrive using manual therapy, education, exercise and rehabilitation. Please note; I do not provide internal pelvic floor assessment or treatment.
Clinical Pilates
Clinical Pilates uses controlled, purposeful movement to develop strength, stability, mobility, coordination and body awareness. I deliver 1:1 Clinical Pilates Sessions on request, tailored to your individual needs, whether you're recovering from injury, managing persistent pain, returning to exercise or simply looking to move more effectively, confidently and comfortably.
Onward Referral
Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with GPs, consultants and other healthcare professionals, and can recommend or facilitate onward referral when further investigation, specialist assessment or additional support is indicated. My priority is ensuring you receive the right care at the right time, whether that is within physiotherapy or as part of a wider healthcare team.
Whole Person Approach
It is impossible to ignore the relationship between physical health and psychological wellbeing including the impact of injury on mental health. Physiotherapy can help people experiencing the physical effects of stress, anxiety, or low mood due to injury or reduced activity through supportive, individualised exercise programmes, helping to rebuild confidence, independence and a positive relationship with physical activity.
“I went to The Preparatory Physio with knee & groin pain, thanks to Sorcha’s preparatory plan I got through the hardest dance contract of my career without injury. I cannot recommend her enough!”
